Santa on the Beach

I know Christmas happens around the world in all climates but it just seems so foreign to me to see this:

Santa climbing a palm tree?

I have always lived in the Midwest.  Santa is associated in my mind with cold and snow!

Santa has been climbing this palm tree at Tween Waters Inn on Captiva Island, FL for as long as I can remember.  He looks out over the Gulf of Mexico.  Perhaps this is his summer home and Mrs Claus has him putting up lights before they head up north?

Yes, I'm still on vacation...

...but Hubby promises the Christmas boxes from storage will be waiting for me when I get home!

I'm linking to Sundays with Santa hosted by Yuletide Seasonings

  1. Hi Amy, Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. Looks like you're having a great time in FL. Actually that Santa climbing the palm tree looks right to me. I live in the Phoenix, AZ area and Santa and palm trees just kinda go together! haha

  2. Hi Amy,
I know exactly what your talking about. I grew up in New York City, so Christmas was all about the cold and damp weather, and the possibility of snow. Now that I live in Texas, I can't get used to it. I'm forced to spray snow paint on the windows, and pretend to be freezing. ;)
Thanks for participating in "Sundays with Santa."
Hope you enjoy your week ahead!

  4. Thanks ladies :-)

My parents live on the east coast of Florida. When they first moved here I got them a lighted palm tree with tropical decorations. It seemed so exotic at the time, to celebrate Christmas in such a warm climate. I don't know if I could do it...give me snow!

  5. I am the same way. He belongs in cold climates... why on earth would he be wearing all of those clothes??!! Enjoy your time off. I am sure you are ready to decorate for Christmas though. You can just leave it up longer after the holiday!

  6. This is the kind of Santa that I grew up with, being from Australia, but I totally agree that it is strange! I will never forget my first white Christmas in Ohio and ever since then Christmas in Summer has totally lost its appeal!

    Best Christmas wishes,
    Natasha.

  7. For me, it would be very different to celebrate Christmas in warm weather. For Christmas, just bring on the cold and snowy weather. I don't even like to see the sunshine on Christmas day. If there's no snow, a cloudy day seems more appropriate! Have a nice week!

  8. Thanks ladies! I'm heading back to the cold (or not, I've heard it has been nice) in a few days AND looking forward to it!
